Once a famous person said that if two people each exchange a penny, they still end up with a penny each. But if two people exchange their ideas, they don’t end up with one idea each but they end up with two. The 1001 Tales Project was a great experience that extended my ideas and improved my skills in writing. This project was very meaningful to me because I’ve learned so much from it! By communicating with the worldwide network of students, I was able to do so much more than on paper. I never imagined myself giving feedback to students all the way to Hawaii and the States before this project. By giving feedback and receiving as well, I was able to improve my writing far more than on paper. I presented my ideas better by using multimedia such as podcasts and pictures, which is impossible to do on paper. Our stories were accessible from anywhere in the world and everyone learned about other people’s perspective. This project allowed my ideas and my story to spread all around the world. It’s unbelievable!
now, he is interested in history, as well as things related to science and technology.Chai Young’s thoughts on being an assistant international editor for the 1001 Flat World Tales:
Being an editor for this Wiki tale project - to be honest- seemed at first boring. Having to read so many different stories was stressful. Yet to my surprise, I actually enjoyed reading them; not just some, but all. Even stories that weren’t really good made me eagerly read on. I guess this was partly because I was interested in how other people took an experience from their life, or a story they heard, and changed it into creative writing. In our lives, I believe we tend to focus too much on our own perspective on writing, and never really look into the perspective of other people around the same age. The Wiki tale project
changed that for me, and through another person’s writing, I could learn how uniquely each person wrote.

Marie’s thoughts on being an assistant international editor:
Overall, I found this experience enlightening and interesting in so
many ways. Not only was I able to see the crafting techniques and
writing styles of the students at my school, but I was able to see the
styles and techniques of students from schools in different countries
as well. I’ve gained a lot of knowledge from reading all of the
stories, and intend to incorporate the things I’ve learned from reading
the students’ pieces into my own writing in the future.
